Loaded this up and played single player a bit last night. Wow it has been a long time since I played a FPS! I leveled a couple times, but I only lasted a=bout an hour before vertigo started getting to me. I remember that in UT they had an option to make the screen bob as you where running which helped me. I'll have to dig into the options on this one to see if that's available. Otherwise my play time will be limited to about an hour. Or maybe if they have a 3rd person perspective. Overall it was pretty fun. I really want to try out the Coop mode.

If you take a look at the forums for the PC version of borderlands there is a very detailed post about some tweaks like head bobbing, 3rd person, v-sync, and a whole lot more. Definitely worth taking a look!

@Zionexpress Thanks, I'll check it out!
That looked like a good game. Haven't played it yet myself. How is it?
So far, fun enough, but the vertigo may ruin it for me.
I would hate to have the game be ruined for you just from something like vertigo. Maybe i can help you adjust some of the visual properties to make it more tolerable. Using the INI files you can adjust a LOT of things, even field of view and gravity. I'm sure with a little trial and error you can find the right balance of visual effects to make the game easier to enjoy.
I had the same effect with other games like Quake, but i found that the screen bob in UT kept me from getting it as easy. It seems like I recall a way to turn it on in Quake as well, cause I played that quite a bit. altough I liked the team games in UT better than just straight out DM. Also It has probably been a good 2 years since I played a FPS other than playing a little bit of DOOM3 I think it is, the newest 1, which just didn't grab my interest. I might try playing some more to see if its just the lack of exposure to the FP perspective. I got so hooked on Guild Wars, I've hardly played anything else, other than very casually. I'll porobably play it some more this weekend, and I may just slot it for times when i want to game 4 an hour or so, & don't want to get all involved in a long quest.
If the first person aspect is giving you the most trouble there is a way to adjust the INI files to allow a 3rd person perspective.
Check out this post on the forum.

Its a little complicated, especially if you use scopes, but there are plenty of options and you can customize everything to make almost any view style.
It said on there that 3rd person didn't work in multiplayer, so I'd hate to use a tweak that I can't use when I co-op.
I think it will still work in co-op if YOU are the person hosting the game. The same goes for a few other tweaks like adjusting gravity and such. If someone ELSE hosts the game, even if they have the same tweak in effect, you wont be able to use the 3rd person.
That sucks that vertigo may ruin the game for you. Hopefully you can find the right amount of tweaking to make the game playable for you.
Yeah I recall having it some a long time ago, but it seems worse now. Maybe my FPS days are over.
Maybe since you haven't played any FPS games in awhile you just need to reacclimate yourself to them. Maybe do short play sessions to get used to them again.
